CIRCULATION RECORD

One frog. One book.
Zero returns.

The Great Meme Library kept one copy of the Book of Meme, and on 14 March 2024 a frog in a magenta sweater checked it out.

The slip in the back said DATE DUE. He read that as a suggestion.

Notices went out at 4:04 each afternoon. The fee ticked up a few cents a day, then a few dollars, then past every market cap on the board. The librarians stopped shushing him around year one — he was quiet, he kept his place, and honestly, the library had never held a book this long without losing it.

Every time he reaches the last page, the internet writes a new one. That's the secret the overdue notices never understood: the Book of Meme can't be returned, because it isn't finished. Nobody's is.

So he stays. Reading. Renewed never, returned never, due forever.
